Description
⚡ Sherman TIG 215P AC/DC Inverter Welder
The Sherman TIG 215P AC/DC is a multi-process inverter welder designed for TIG AC, TIG DC and MMA welding. It enables DC welding of steel, copper and its alloys, as well as AC welding of aluminium and its alloys.
The unit provides a maximum welding current of 200 A for TIG and 160 A for MMA. TIG arc ignition is contactless, using an HF igniter. Process parameter adjustment includes AC frequency and AC balance, gas pre-flow and gas post-flow, and current downslope time.
✅ Supported welding processes
- TIG AC – welding aluminium and its alloys with a non-consumable electrode in an argon shield.
- TIG DC – welding steel, copper and its alloys with a non-consumable electrode in an argon shield.
- TIG DC Pulse – pulsed-current welding at a frequency of 0.8 Hz or 150 Hz.
- MMA – DC welding of structural steels with a coated electrode.
✅ Key functions
- contactless TIG arc ignition using an HF igniter,
- 2T or 4T torch control mode selection,
- AC frequency adjustment from 20–300 Hz,
- AC balance adjustment from 20–80%,
- gas pre-flow adjustment from 0.1–3 s,
- gas post-flow adjustment from 1–15 s,
- current downslope time adjustment from 0–25 s,
- TIG DC current pulsing at a frequency of 0.8 Hz or 150 Hz,
- VRD function limiting open-circuit voltage in MMA mode,
- thermal protection with automatic reset after the unit has cooled down,
- Fan Stop function that switches off the fan after welding has finished and the unit has cooled down,
- remote current adjustment using an optional foot pedal,
- display showing the welding current and adjustable parameter values.
✅ TIG AC process adjustment
Adjusting the AC frequency makes it possible to change the arc shape and the way thermal energy is concentrated. A higher frequency provides a more focused and stable arc, while a lower frequency produces a wider and softer arc.
Adjusting the AC balance sets the time ratio between the alternating-current half-cycles. This makes it possible to adjust the penetration depth, weld width and cleaning action when welding aluminium.
✅ Pulsing and weld termination control
Pulsing in TIG DC mode helps control heat input, reduce thermal distortion and weld thin materials. The operator can select pulsing at a frequency of 0.8 Hz or 150 Hz, or weld without pulsing.
The adjustable current downslope time enables the current to be gradually reduced before the arc is extinguished. This supports controlled solidification of the weld pool and reduces end-crater formation.
✅ Shielding gas control
Gas pre-flow adjustment makes it possible to purge air from the torch before arc ignition, helping to protect the electrode and welding area. Adjustable gas post-flow protects the weld and tungsten electrode against oxidation after welding and also assists electrode cooling.
